Comments
Comments: This was a great day for this trip, with nice weather for January including sunny skies. The snow is 2-3' deep, but trails have been heavily used and are well-packed down for Falling Waters and Bridle Path. We wore snowshoes, but they were not needed for flotation, only traction. The Franconia Ridge Trail is mostly blown clear of snow, but with minor areas of drifting, and many icy patches such that microspikes were marginally adequate and many hikers were wearing crampons. Lots of beautiful rime ice and snow patches on trees and rocks, and beautiful snow, ice, and waterfalls going up Falling Waters trail.
