Comments
Comments: CM trail is hard-packed and in OK shape. The entire trail is uneven, probably due to the warm-up yesterday. The parking lot is where we encountered the worst of the ice. I used light traction and ES used Hillsounds. The summit was windy and it snowed lightly most of the day. There was quite a mixture of hikers out (about ten) denim, barebooters, and shared spikes...one spike per person - it didn't look fun. The ledges were icy but easy to navigate through the trees, using a bypass, or getting a decent bite with spikes into crusty snow. At the bog-bridge area there was some post-holing that took place. After the snow tomorrow this report won't matter.
