Nice day out. Great views watching the weather move in and clouds descend over the Presidentials. Trails are well packed. There were 10-12 barebooters (ok-spikes)who were postholing in some drifted places along the ridge. Its hard to believe all the barebooters who don't / won't wear snowshoes. Try them--its actually easier. One group of 7 barebooters apparently got to the Osceola ledges but there was no evidence they actually found the real summit!!! We used snowshoes except descending the steeps from the shoulder of East Osceola where we switched to crampons and back to snowshoes. Not much activity on the Chimney ByPass. Most people using the bypass to the bypass. |
