Trails: Ravine Lodge Road, Gorge Brook Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, December 19, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Ravine Lodge Road is open because the lodge is being rebuilt (normally it would be gated by now). However, due to yesterday's rain/freeze, the road was a sheet of ice this morning. Since we don't have studded tires, we parked at the usual winter area--just after turning onto RLR from 118--and spiked it up the road. On the walk out, the road had been heavily sanded so would probably be fine for most cars to park at the (new, due-to-construction) designated area which is about 3/4 mile up the road.

Comments
Comments: We lucked out in that Gorge Brook was snowshoed yesterday, then frozen hard. Able to use spikes the entire way. Carried snowshoes too. Cold but oh-so-stunningly clear above treeline today!

Snapper looked unbroken, so recommend bringing snowshoes for trails other than Gorge Brook.

Saw no one but construction workers today!
