 | Water Crossing Notes: |
At the top of the trail there was a huge waterfall / water crossing that would have been pretty dangerous if I didn't bring the microspikes. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
lots of trees down, easy to maneuver around, the trees were bending over at the top due to being covered in Ice. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Comet and Jill, (My Patterdale Terrier and Catahoula/Heeler mix dogs)came on the hike with me today. They got more wet from the mist than I would have liked, but had a great hike and utilized their paw microspikes on the icy water crossings near the top. |

no bugs |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
saw a green parka 2/3 of the way to the top off the side of the trail. |

 | Comments: |
I checked the conditions of the higher summits before leaving for the hike, and even checked in at the AMC Hut at the base of Crawford Notch. The woman at the front desk told me there was a group of people that attempted to hike Eisenhower yesterday and failed because they had no traction for the ice crossings. The top of the mountain was medium wind with white out conditions and you could not see anything off the side of the mountain. I had a great hike, but ended up soaking wet from the mist/ rain. Next time I think I would trust the clouds in the sky and hike on a different day, but even soaking wet, it felt good to get out and hike! |
