Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Little River Crossing towards North Twin was, for me, unsafe and impassable. I crossed a couple miles south of the north twin crossing - very slippery due to icy rocks and the water was high. I then crossed back at the same crossing as all the other options looked unsafe.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: large blowdown on Firewarden Trail around 3800' - difficult to get under

Comments
Comments: This was my second time poking around deep in the Little River Valley.

Today's plan was to go up the Little River headwaters, but, I realized I wouldn't be able to cross the river on my return, coming off North Twin, so I changed the plan to go to area south of Hale, but, when I got there, the boulders were freaking huge and scary with unstable duff underneath so I couldn't picture getting back to my car before sunset. OK, so, I turned around at around 3100' on Little River and headed back to do Hale on my way out to close out my November calendar days :)

First of all, I have to say, the old Belcher RR map of the Little River really doesn't jive with the actual RR location. AND, I'm pretty sure the (long abandoned) Little River hiking trail was on an old skidder road much closer to the river than shown on the old AMC map, rather than the missing RR grade. True, a lot of washouts have happened since, but, well, mysteries remain. Much of the skidder road is currently swampy due to recent rains. As a note: there are a LOT of relics in weird places and there are no relics where you'd expect them to be..... such a fun place to explore!!!!

About 3500' up Hale, snow was around 4" deep - no micros needed though I did carry them. Almost time to switch to winter boots. No views and spitting snow at the top - snowing on Hale; misting down lower. Fun day!!!!! :)
