Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I mistakenly took my two dogs, one a 70 pound 9 1/2 year old, on this hike. My back is still hurting from lifting them up and down scrambles. And they were both very sore that night and the next morning. The ladder at the bottom of the Boot Spur trail is dangerous for dogs in my opinion. Very scary coming down that. Getting them down the scramble on the Glen Boulder trail would be very difficult also.

Comments
Comments: This was a pristine day in the Presidentials. Not a cloud in the sky and fall colors reaching peak. This was one beautiful hike. Saw one other hiker on Glen Boulder and three on the Davis Path. Within 45 minutes we scrambled out of the scrub and hiked over to the awesome Glen Boulder (which doesn't look all that stable to me). This was the only scramble on the Glen Boulder trail. Not too far after the boulder we were back in the spruce. There is a good spring, well signed, a few minutes up the trail. Then we came out of the spruce and remained above tree line until the lower part of Boot Spur Trail. This is a fabulous loop hike for humans. One of the nicest I have done, relatively short with lots of air time. As noted, not for canines. Road walk back to Glen Elis trailhead from PNVC but there is an optional trail walk. I have had an excellent trail dog who could out climb most humans that would have been able to do this trail safely. That would be very much an exception. The dogs I have now are both very fit but not particularly good climbers. Not a safe trail for dogs.
