Comments
Comments: An awesome but tiring trip from Rt 16 to 302 for approx. 15-16 miles. Started and finished this one in headlamps. For my Dads 54th birthday we started @ 6am @ Rocky Branch side. Climbed up the 3.7 in about 2 hours to Isolation trail. From there- Isolation trail was very muddy in some parts but water crossings were fine. Made it to Davis path up on the ridge and hit Isolation around Noon. Great views of clouds rolling over Mt. Washington and hit me 31st out of 48. Enjoyed a focal banger (heady toppers brother) on top and made our way to Davis. Davis spur is tough with some tough terrain and steep parts. The next 4.1 miles is some of the most remote parts of the ridge- the trail was very narrow with lots of blow downs to work under and around. Some parts of the trail are slightly overgrown and the ups and downs are tiring. We made it to Stairs and decided to skip out as we still at 4.4 to go and were tired. By this point is was around 4pm and were low on food and water. Made it to the Crawford jct and put head lamps on. After Crawford mtn down into 302 is very steep and unforgiving- we finished around 8pm and were happy to get some BK in our stomachs after. Overall an awesome trip but long and tiring.
