Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossings of the Rocky Branch were easy on rocks as the water level is low. These crossings could be difficult with higher water levels.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good condition. Most of the distance is in the Wilderness Area so there are many tree falls on the forest floor and some trees across the trail at a height that permits easy passage. The bog bridges on the Davis Path are deteriorated.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw some dogs. Trail is good for dogs.

Comments
Comments: Although the conditions have been abnormally dry there is still standing water and mud in many sections of all the trails. Luckily there was generally a lot of rocks that can be used to avoid most of the wetness. I would not recommend this route in the wet season or after a thunderstorm.
As one would expect in the Wilderness Area there are downed trees but none that obstructs progress. Take care to follow the Isolation Trail near the primitive campsite area as there are some side trails. Rocky Branch shelter #2 has been removed. The last time I visited the shelter two years ago it was in poor condition.
There were good views from the open summit however Mt Washington was enshrouded in clouds.
