| Comments: |
It was a largely clear day in the Presidentials, and we made good time up Madison. Halfway between Madison and Adams, strong winds of about 50 mph rolled in and did not cease. Fortunately, there was no precipitation so we were able to continue on. Fighting the wind slowed us down but we made it to the summit of Jefferson before sunset, and then descended down the Caps Ridge Trail, using our headlamps once it got dark.
The rock formations at the top of the Howker Ridge Trail are majestic where you turn to make the final push to the summit of Madison.
The small lake (Star Lake) along the Star Lake Trail, just past the Madison Spring Hut on the way to Adams, is unique and beautiful. |
