Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Not a huge lot for as busy as this peak can get. Better parking by a couple cars would have allowed 2-3 more into the lot, but it hardly matters when 30+ cars have to park along the road anyway. I was #2 on the road at ~8:15am. 2 porta-potties, USFS daily parking fee collected.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Hardly any water at all in the crossing or two on this trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some more recent work on this trail since my last visit last year. Still plenty of beat paths off-trail to get around a few spots that could use stabilization. A large widow-maker hanging in the trees just past the col towards East Osceola.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The chimney/chimney bypass is traditionally the only spot of note along this route that a dog may have trouble with, depending on the dog. Effectively no water from start to finish available currently.
Bugs
Bugs: A few skeeters buzzing about at the car in the afternoon.

Comments
Comments: Nothing of particular note on this route for those familiar with it, which is par for the course this summer. The only saddening thing is the insane amount of tp in the woods all around the main summit and near the main outlook, and a fair bit more on the East Peak. Good grief folks, pack it out or bury it, it isn't that hard! Sunny skies at the start were largely overcast by the time I hit the summit, but didn't really worsen and still allowed for decent views across the valley. Aside from the rather awkward footing for a good chunk of the trail, the main peak is one of the better bang-for-your-buck 4Ks in my book, and is quite popular as a result. Start early to beat the crowds (I saw at least 100 people during my descent who were ascending to the main peak). Good to (briefly) run into John and Pepper as they were hustling down while I was early in my ascent.
