Parking is along the side of Mill Brook Road. There were about a half-dozen when I arrived Saturday evening and about the same when I returned mid-day Sunday. |

No issues. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I counted three fallen birch trees on the UPT: two on the upper portion are small and easy step-overs while a larger one on the lower part broke right next to the trail and can be skirted between it and it's trunk. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
I saw a couple along the way - including one impressive ascent of the Horn. |
|
| Bugs: |
Some flies on the Horn were annoying - no wind to assist either. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Nothing. |

The north segment of the UPT is very well worn however there is a mile plus of beautiful white birches along the way making the sights most enjoyable. Unknown Pond was another enjoyable sight - very calm and serene today. Of course the best sights came from atop the Horn where abundant sun and a cloudless sky made for panoramic views for many miles around. After I took the short walk to the Bulge I considered continuing to Cabot...but the thought of hanging my hammock for a nap on the way out seemed better to me :)
I stayed on the Horn for well over an hour soaking in the sun, cherishing the views, snapping pics and chatting with others stopping by. Most everyone was either doing the loop from the east or a three-pack out-n-back from the north. Despite seeing quite a few folks on the ridge - and a pretty big black bear about a half mile north of the Horn spur this morning - I had both passes of the UPT to myself. |
