| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Great lot, with a sign that looks rather new. Ride from Exit 31 was not bad. Do keep in mind that if you are interested in this side of Tecumseh that they close this road in late fall. Also, anyone who is thinking of staying at Russell Campground, it has closed for the season due to road construction. |

Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Within minutes of leaving the trail head there is a stream that may be challenging in high water. This was definitely not one of those times. Very easy due to the drought. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Excellent! |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw several. While this is a good trail for dogs, keep in mind that the only water is in the first 10 minutes of the hike. |
|
| Bugs: |
A few flies. A HUGE spider web with a big black spider in it near the cairn on the way down. A work of art for the non-arachnophobic. |

After talking about it for years, I have finally done "the backside of Tecumseh." It was beautiful. Longer, but more gradual than the ski side. There is a beautiful, relatively flat area that is open (by this I mean space between the trees, not views). A little bit later there is a restricted view (go now, if you're interested, because spruces grow fast). Then there is a steep descent and then back up to the summit. Great views, the weather cooperated.
I know that "Rocket" is the trail maintainer for Tecumseh; not sure if you do this side as well. Thanks to whoever is caring for it! |
