Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked roadside on Ravine Lodge Road below the lodge access, as per signage. Three other vehicles when I left, four more had joined them on my return. Ravine Lodge Road in decent shape, excepting one washboard section near 118. Speaking of 118, it has been repaved from the Woodstock side, up to the Warren line. Superb!

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in great shape overall! Al Merrill has a fir down in the trail, near the height of land, heading down to its upper junction with Asquam-Ridge, herd paths have formed around it. Some wet areas of Carriage Road above Snapper junction.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one out with its human, enjoying the breeze up high.
Bugs
Bugs: A few followed me around down low, but were basically non-existent up high.

Comments
Comments: Took the opportunity to get out early, and bang out this loop before it got too hot and the forecast showers arrived. My timing was pretty much perfect. Al Merrill is a great trail to hike on, with easy grades all the way. Took the herd path out to Sayre Peak and obtained views from the object there (a chain link fence has been installed around the base of the tower, but a properly cut tree on the outside, and a properly placed rock on the inside, made for quick up and overs). Asquam-Ridge may be my new favorite way to ascend Moosilauke, as it's never steep and the footing is generally good. Considered taking the old Beaver Brook Trail, but decided to save it for another day. Great breezes once up on the ridge, and I found most of the summit occupants in shells and hats. Hoofed on down Carriage Road, and up to South Peak, where there was no one. Down to Snapper and out Gorge Brook was excellent, but the heat had started to make its presence known. Done by 11:45, just as clouds started to stream in from the west. A great morning!
