Peaks Slide Peak, Mt. Isolation, NH
Trails
Trails: Glen Boulder Trail, Davis Path, Isolation Spur, Isolation Trail, Rocky Branch Trail, Route 16
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 30, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Talked to hikers arriving later in morning and sounded like Glen Ellis never filled and Rocky Branch only had about 10 cars. At 7:00 P.M. when leaving Rocky Branch lot police did a drive through; nice to see this if you've ever been broken into at a trailhead.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All 5 crossings on Rocky Branch were rock hops (steps actually) on dry rocks. Crossings 3 & 4 if going up RBT are avoidable with a short obvious herd path bypassing them.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: New signage at all 3 trail junctions if using the Rocky Branch route. The usual rotting planks on Davis Path and blowdowns up higher; although none of the blowdowns were hard getting through. Lots of evidence of blowdown clearing; thanks to those doing this.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No water between last crossing on Glen Boulder and quite a distance down the Davis Path.
Bugs
Bugs: Did not bother; but I did use repellant.

Comments
Comments: Quiet hike compared to other options today. Can't recall a clearer view day that I've had on Isolation. Trails were wet and muddy in the usual spots but overall conditions drier than normal.
