Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 30, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No parking fee at Lafayette parking area. On the route back I was confused by the old man on the mtn walkway and the Pemi trail, the Pemi tr is at the visitor center in the upper parking lot. At 8:30 am I was able to park on the access road along the edge, when I left at 2:00pm parking was packed and at least a mile along the highway going 93S. I've never seen so many cars parked there.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The very few crossings were not even rock hopping worthy. Watch for slippery rocks at those points otherwise dry trails.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Pemi Tr, this was my first time on the trail. It's over grown and very narrow. To pass someone you have to be careful not to walk to far into the woods. I didn't have long pants on and was extremely worried about ticks. Didn't find any but what a terrible trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw lots of dogs on the trails.
Bugs
Bugs: None that I saw, I usually hit my ankles and my hat by default with spray and that was plenty enough.
