Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A lot of crossings I had forgotten about on the Castle Ravine Trail - all rock-hoppable with care - one crossing had to be on an unstable blowdown. Water was, in general, much higher than I was expecting.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A *LOT* of really nice axe-work on blowdowns - nothing blocking the trails!!! NICE!!!! Castle Ravine Trail was much wilder than I remembered. Start of Castle Trail is QUITE brushy. Some of the water crossings had me scratching my head to find the trail. One crossing on what looked like TS Irene debris. Once on the headwall (going UP Castle Ravine), some of the cairns were a bit hard to see; blazes were sometimes faded red crosses - had to really pay attention to find next blaze/cairn. NOTE: many loose rocks going up the headwall; ascent quite slow because I had to test the stability of each step a LOT of the way.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: a few mosquitoes on the lower elevations of the Castle Trail when I was coming down.

Comments
Comments: Very fun revisit of these lower-usage trails. Didn't see hardly anyone until the summit area above T-storm Junction to the top of Jefferson. I really enjoyed how wild and remote these trails felt. Roof Rock was really cool; some of the mossy stretches were really neat - blasts of COLD air!!!!
