Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Numerous water crossings on the Basin Cascade, Cascade Brook & Pemi Trail. Area on Cascade Brook Trail at Basin Cascade Trail where bridge removed (noted on sign), concrete pads still on either side of brook. Crossing area just upstream, rock hoppable but slippery. Crossing on Pemi Trail from Cascade Brook to Basin a little tricky.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Pemi Trail from Cannon to Lafayette Campground could use some brushing out, many areas pushing through brush and high grass. On Basin Cascade Trail just before Kinsmans Falls there is a large tree blocking the trail which takes a while to get around and then stay on the trail. Basin Cascade trail along brook very wet with a lot of roots.

Comments
Comments: Some redlining today with wife and hiking neighbor. Took Pemi Trail from Cannon to Basin then Basin Cascade Trail to Cascade Brook Trail to Kinsman Pond Trail then Cascade Brook back to Whitehouse Trail back to Pemi Trail ending a the Basin. Nice hike 9+ miles, 1000+ elevation gain. Pemi Trail nice walk along the Pemigewasett but in hearing distance from parkway, nice views of Cannon cliffs. Plus to stop at Lafayette campground to use bathroom and get water. Basin was a fun place to explore. Basin Cascade Trail was steep but plenty of places to stop and cool down with the cascades steps away on the left, saw the first people of the day on trail on our way up (they were coming down from Kinsmans Falls), many water crossings. Jumped across a bridge removal site on Cascade Brook Trail. ran into a NOBO and a SOBO on the way to Kinsman Pond Trail.
Cascade Brook Trail to Whitehouse Trail was nice steady grade but easy walk, interesting to do piece from Pemi to Whitehouse under the Parkway, great views of Flume and Liberty. Pemi Trail from Cascade Brook to the Basin tougher than expected, many water crossings, lots of mud. All in all a great way to spend Wednesday off.
