Comments
Comments: A third visit to the Tris, this time tagging along with a friend who is working on their 4Ks.

Wet trail conditions to start from the previous night's rains. This route is nice as you get a nice easy warm up for a couple of miles before hitting Horne Brook Ravine, where the unrelenting up starts. The climb up the ravine was slick on moss covered rocks. Above the ravine, the trail is steep, rough and eroded leading up to the ridge.

We climbed to North Peak where we met a woman who was doing the loop over the slides. She reported that the North Slide was wet and very difficult. She made it up safely, but as someone who has been on the slide in wet conditions, I do not personally recommend it. The three of us hiked together over to Middle where we parted ways.

From Middle, we backtracked over to North, where we took the short side trip down to the top of the North Slide for the views. This is well worth the steep 300' drop to get there. After enjoying the vista there, we made the steep climb back up to PBBT and retraced our steps back out.

This was a good day to do these peaks. We had originally planned an Eisenhower / Monroe loop, but switched due to high winds forecasted above treeline. This was perfect hiking weather with cool temps, low humidity and light winds. It felt like an October day!
