Comments
Comments: Beautiful day to finish my NH 48. Went up 19 Mile Brook, good warm up. At second bridge crossing saw a very fresh deer kill right on the bank of the river. A small fawn, we didn't linger
as this was less than a 24 hour kill. Hiked to Carter Notch Hut for lunch & refill water. It was hot but with a nice breeze. Carter Notch Lake is absolutely beautiful, great views. Hike up to Wildcat A is rough & steep but not as bad as expected. Great views of Carter Dome from view area. Had to really look for the true summit, tucked off the trail not marked. Then on to Wildcat B & C, ups & downs no summit views. Hike to D was not too bad couple of steep spots but not as bad as I expected. My wife & 2 adult children took the gondola to the top to celebrate. Had some champagne & a 4000 Foot IPA, great views of the Presidentials! Took the gondola trail down, this was not easy & the black flies were brutal!
Thanks to Chuck & Karen who started with me last July on Washington & finished my last 2 with me today! It took me 53 weeks to do these so a big thank you to my wife for supporting me. These were #'s 33 & 34 this year so I haven't been around a lot this year. Thank You to all of you I have met & talked with while on the trails, it really is a special group of people who enjoy the Whites! 48 done now on to the NE 67!
