| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Junction of the lower Sphinx & Great Gulf meet trail is very hard to follow due to damage from 2011 storm. Need to really pay attention for small carions at water crossing. Followed what I thought was trail, saw signs of maintenance but came to dead end. Lost count of blow downs on this end of Great Gulf. This area needs maintenance bad. |

| Comments: |
Rain Friday night so trails were all wet. 1st major river crossing was difficult, water very high. Next 2 waded, again high fast water. Great Gulf to Six Husbands several blow downs but manageable. Six Husbands was wet & slippery but ledges at ladders were dry. Ladders themselves were very slippery. Once above treeline wind really picked up & foggy. Low Visibility made following carions tough. The higher you got wind was really blowing, hard to stand. Hit the summit then made for Sphinx to get out of wind. Sphinx was slow going as it was very wet with running water on trail. Once on Great Gulf trail was in tough shape. Too many blow downs to remember, standing water on trail. Once past junction with Six Husbands conditions improved. Long day, Six Husbands not as bad as I have heard, enjoyed the challenge. #41 |
