| Comments: |
This is a spectacular 11-mile route through many types of environment on the mountain, with about 4300' elevation gain. The steep descent into Tuckerman Ravine from the junction with the Alpine Garden Trail was slow due to potentially hazardous wet rocks in many places, and the lower part of the Tuckerman Ravine Trail is an old road turned into a ski trail, making for 2.4 miles of tedious hiking, but no problems there. I was told that flowers on the Alpine Garden were past their peak and that many had been wiped out by snow a week or two ago, but there were still some blooms chiefly in the central and southern parts of the trail. |
