Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings (those on Bondcliff Trail) were all easy rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lincoln Woods has a couple of stepovers, surprisingly. Bondcliff Trail above the turn off the former Wilderness Trail, there is a crown down in the trail, and a few stepovers. All other trails in great shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several out today with their humans (most on Franconia Ridge), enjoying the day.
Bugs
Bugs: A non-issue until Little Haystack, then I couldn't stop for long unless there was a breeze (pretty much just Liberty and Flume). Not bad down Osseo, though I didn't really stop.

Comments
Comments: Today was one for going after demons of loops past, and slaying the time I set on my first successful Pemi Loop, almost three years ago. I hiked to Bondcliff by headlamp, and somehow managed to get there 25 minutes BEFORE sunrise! Caught my first rays of the day when I hit Bond and West Bond, and made quick work of the hike over South Twin and down to the hut. Garfield Ridge is always tough, no matter which way you take it, and I'm still not sure which direction is more difficult. The climb up Lafayette was pretty demoralizing, though once on the ridge, the miles fell away, especially after Flume. Beat my old time by almost 4 1/2 hours, and included other peaks this time! What a great day to be out.
