Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: North Carter Trail looked like it hadn't been maintained in a while. It was badly eroded and there was water running down the trail at one point.

Bugs
Bugs: There were quite a few bugs (black flies, mosquitoes, flies, etc.); you may want to bring bug spray. When I got above the trees and out in the open, the bugs weren't bad because a nice breeze was blowing.

Comments
Comments: We did this hike in two days. We went over the Wildcats the first day, and then stopped at Carter Notch Hut and spent the night. Then, we went over the Carters on the second day and made it back to our car.

On Wildcat Ridge Trail between Wildcat C and Wildcat D, there was a grouse that walked towards us and followed us. It didn't fly or peck at us, though. It went right ahead of me and we followed it down the trail. Then, it went into the woods to our right and ran alongside us. I talked to it and didn't make any sudden movements. The grouse left us alone after maybe a tenth of a mile or so. It was just trying to protect its nest.

I will have a report on my blog by the end of the week.
