Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot nearly full when we arrived at 8:45 AM. Saw lots of "makeshift" parking when we got back.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing fancy. Decent amount of running and standing water at the higher elevations, though.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A handful of logs to step over on the way up, none difficult.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several dogs; they all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Bugs
Bugs: The bugs were not unbearable, but there were definitely flies and mosquitoes, especially wherever there was stagnant water on the trail. Got bit a couple times despite liberal use of insect repellent. Inadvertently consumed one insect on the descent, when the swarms were growing.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Lost a red clip and silver bolt/screw from the middle of one of my hiking poles, but luckily someone spotted it and informed me, and I was able to retrieve it on the way down. Thank you, anonymous attentive hiker!

Comments
Comments: Probably the steadiest elevation gain of any 4000 footer we've hiked so far. Wouldn't call it particularly difficult, just relentless, in that there are almost no flat or gentle sections where you get a break from elevation changes (one just past the Mitzpah cut-off, and one just below the summit: that's it!). We are not great hikers, and still got up and down in 5:45, including at least 30 minutes for snacks and pictures at the top. Near-perfect weather for hiking. Easily saw well over 50 other hikers... maybe even 100.
