Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: all water crossings were doable with rock hopping, but sometimes requiring going a few feet up or down the brook before you could find suitable rocks
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: all trails were good, the steep rock slabs on the upper section of Flume Slide were about 50% covered with water (some running) so you need to watch your footing and look for the dry portions of the rock. Some deteriorating ice on about 20% of Franconia Ridge Trail between Flume and Liberty. Did not require traction, just stepping on side of trail and using trekking poles. About six step overs on the entire loop, they are now gone.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: saw one dog on Ridge Trail
Bugs
Bugs: there were none
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: found striped wool cap on Flume Slide Trail - asked hikers I met, no one had lost it, and I ended up putting hat on sign post at junction of Liberty Springs Trail and Franconia Ridge Trail.

Comments
Comments: Enjoyable day. Great views, even with the clouds, sun was off and on. Enjoyed meeting and hiking with Matt up section of Flume Slide Trail. At the larger brook on the way down Liberty Spring Trail, about a mile or so from bike path, I soaked my feet in the absolutely freezing running water. This was probably the most brilliant idea I have had hiking, what a difference it made. The physical exertion of hiking, the nice people you meet on the trail and the views from the top, or near the top, all combine in making this a positive experience.
