Comments
Comments: What else can be more fun for a bachelor's party than hiking up one of the NH4000? That is what our group did after a night of festivities at a local campground. However, in the morning, weather was not on our side: ~40 F, light drizzle, rain, snow, then windy and almost blizzard-like at the top of Mt. Jackson. Trail was mostly wet and muddy on the lower part. We came across some snow/ice/monorails from ~3200 feet and above. Poor visibility at the top of Jackson since it was snowing and the wind was strong. We did not stay long up there, considering the significant amount of humidity we accumulated prior to the top. A few large patches of crusted snow made the descend hazardous at places since nobody had traction aids. Bushwacking besides the trail was the option to take. All crossings were doable and water levels were reasonable. Rocks around streams were not slippery. Not many hikers on the trail apart from our group. I guess the weather was not inviting enough.
