The trail was in decent spring conditions. The beginning of the trail was dry but then turned muddy with spots of running water down the trail. Most of the muddy spots could be avoided by rock hopping. But it was really not that bad. The ice started a little bit before the Mizpah cut off. I made it until that junction then wore micro spikes until I got to the summit. The ice is definitely melting. There was also some soft slushy spots. I would recommend wearing the spikes. I know some would be tempted to try to walk around the ice, but I would not. The summit was ice free. There is also one section from Pierce to Eisenhower where I woke the spikes again. I was going to do a loop and come down Edmands Path but I decided to go back down the same way. |
