Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A bit if mud early, and trail could use some brushing in places, but otherwise fine. There was a surprising amount of removed blowdown down low.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: If asked I'd say this could be a tough trail for some dogs especially smaller ones. It is exposed, has lots of jumps over and onto large rocks with rough crystals and/or narrow edges and/or slants, and no water. But the mighty tough little dog had a ball scrambing, and we saw one medium sized dog on our way down. Down low we even saw a cute and tiny dachsund. Now if he made it to the top without being carried he wins dog of the year. He even made Pepper look big.
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Forecast said higher summits would be in the clouds with some wind and on our drive up they were socked in. So I dropped Washington in favor of an easy Jefferson hike and once again the forecast was wrong. All summits were clear by the time we reached Jefferson, and just off the peak towards the mini col the wind was totally blocked. We ate a leisurely lunch, enjoyed the views and wondered why we didn't see any hikers anywhere from Adams to Washington. A near 9am start is hardly early. It was a bit eerie, and Pepper loved running free. As we approached the lip of the steep section the parade began, and we ran into hikers the whole way down. They were still coming as we finished in the late am. We could have happily done George, but Thomas was so gracious I have no regrets.
