Date of Hike: Sunday, May 8, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Signs at the AMC Highland Center said visiting hikers must park at Mt. Clinton St., so we did. But it turned out there's visitor parking right at the trail head. Better signage would have saved us a jaunt down the side of Rt. 302.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: On the way in, we made two water crossings and had to head upstream for safe passage. After heavy rainfall on the way back, the water was higher and we had to head even farther upstream.

Comments
Comments: The trail was extremely wet and muddy lower on the mountain. Farther up it was wet rock. Above about 3,000 feet, patches of ice turned to a solid sheet, including up several steep stretches. With micro spikes, we had little real trouble. The summit was cloudy, cold and rainy. Don't expect stunning views; the summit is covered in trees. The ice made the descent a bit tricky at parts, but with light traction and caution it was manageable. The ice looked like it would be there for a while longer, so make sure to bring your micro spikes.
