Muddy down low. Consistent ice started shortly before the Mizpah Cutoff Junction. I put on microspikes at that point. Pretty much all ice from junction to treeline, with a few pretty serious bulges. Perhaps this could be managed without some traction, but I am sure it would not be pleasant. Webster Ciff Tr. to summit of Pierce was dry and ice-free. Original plan was to hike Eisenhower as well but visibility was nil and I opted to leave that for another day. |
