Comments
Comments: Bring your old beat up light traction. Ice is soft and melting but will linger around for another two weeks plus in spots above 3,500 feet. I put on microspikes heading up the last half mile to the Tom Spur, took them off for the Tom Spur, had them on again on the Willey Range up to Field, really easy walking on a shallow ice flow up to Field. Over to Willey there was bare ground and running water coming off Field's summit for a few hundred yards followed by ice and actual rotting snow and mini monorail, kept spikes on. Descended Avalon Trail, lots of ice still above the Avalon summit spur but it's soft and light traction was perfect, ice petered out quickly from there down to the A-Z junction, I took my spikes off on the steep/eroded rocky section above junction and kept them off.

Cloudy but warm day out, perfect for the Willey Range. On my way out I checked out Pearl and Beecher cascades side trail along with another mini gorge/cascade above Pearl cascade along an unmarked herd path off Avalon Trail, really cool cascades to check out when the water is running. Nice to see a few familiar faces out today :)
