Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Not a problem. We put on microspikes at the last crossing as the previous report noted that they were needed just after this crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail maintainer (didn't catch his name) was working on the trail today. The parts that he's worked on look great. There are some fallen trees on the Sosman trail but he noted that he hadn't been up to that part yet due to the snow/ice.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any today. Did see what looked like paw prints from a large dog on the ski trail coming down.
Bugs
Bugs: Nary a one.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: 1 pair of wire-rimmed eye glasses at the Tecumseh trailhead (from the ski area). We left them by the trailhead sign.

Comments
Comments: As others have mentioned the bottom half of the trail is completely dry. Just before the last watercrossing we started to see some snow. We put microspikes on at that point although you could probably bareboot it a little past where the trail passes the ski slope. I think you'd definitely want the microspikes at some point on this hike, though. We unintentionally ended up at the top of the ski trail from Sosman so we went down the ski trail. I think that turned out to be the better choice anyway. There was a bit of soft snow for most of the first 2/3 down and it was probably a much easier and safer descent than it would have been coming down the Tecumseh trail. There was light rain for most of the afternoon so I don't know what that will do to the trail conditions for tomorrow and later in the week. All in all it was a nice "warm-up" hike for us as it was our first this season.
