What a day to be out in the woods.... Saw no one on the trails til the ledges below Whiteface. Still a fair amount of snow and ice leading to the summit of Whiteface and coming down Blueberry ledge trail, glad I carried my spikes. Quite a few were barebooting it.
McCrillis trail is not blazed, except for a few well faded blazes, so you have to pay attention to the trail in some places. All in all that trail was not that bad to follow.
McCrillis path has been rerouted 1 mile after leaving the junction of Blueberry and that first portion of the reroute can be hard to follow at times, no blazes on that section of trail. Blazes start around the area where the trail follows the edge of the WMNF and it is well blazed to its end at Whiteface Intervale road. The trail swings over to a nice little gorge area and then back into the woods, the gorge was a nice surprise! |
