| Comments: |
Someone started up the Ammo Trail with no traction so they turned around and butt slid all the steep ice. Snow starts right at the trailhead. Put old microspikes on until past Gem Pool and then the ice starts. Had to switch to crampons as there is a couple of inches of snow on hard ice. I don't think I would have made it without crampons, the Hillsounds were not enough. Once at the hut there are deep drifts of snow all the way to the summit of Washington. Lot of post holing. Used all forms of traction microspikes, Hillsound Trail Crampons and 10 point cramponsand was able to bare boot most of the way down as the ground is bare by the Cog.
