Comments
Comments: Crawford Path up to the Mizpah Cutoff is a rocky, muddy eroded not much fun trail. The ice started about 1/2 mile before the cutoff and at this point you could still skip on rocks or put on spikes. From the cutoff traction is necessary. All solid ice and much of it sloping downward. I did it in sharp micros but many might want more. From trail junction up to Pierce summit there is no need for traction. The monorail between Pierce and Ike is solid (with todays temps) and could be bare booted or done in spikes (I stayed in them). After the col as the trail starts to ascend Ike I took them off as the south facing side was melted off. Put the Hillsounds on at the start of Edmands. There were some really steep spots where some might want full traction. I kept them on until about 3500 feet. Sporadic and easy to avoid after this but you will still need to be careful. The lower part of this trail is the anti-Crawford as it was easy on the feet and in great shape. Road walk back. Cloudy in the south but super weather in the mtns today.
