Comments
Comments: ski trails dry to about 3000 feet with some snow whale remainders. cold night firmed up snow above there and we put on spikes for ascent to the tower and managed with little difficulty. descent from D to the col had amazing hard blue ice..the switch to crampons was well timed but there was still some tree hugging along the way. ascent to C brought us to the terrific ice bulge around the spring at the split rocks. this section was a little softer than that on D and crampons allowed us to essentially walk right up it. we saw some folks in spikes...they were not happy. section across to A had some significant ice in places but also lots of fairly solid monorail. gorgeous views from a A as we celebrated with cider donuts as I finished off april knee grid. decent of C was a little tricky in spots and we did use a 50 yard bypass below the bulge though that section itself was soft and offered decent footing. we avoided most of the climb back to D and cut over to the ski trails where the sun softened snow offered some good boot skiing on descent. challenging day at times, thanks Jeff and Karine for great humor and for coming along. always a pleasure.
