| Water Crossing Notes: |
Pine Brook on the East Pond trail is rock-hoppable. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Several step-overs and walk-arounds but otherwise the trails were in decent shape. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
East Pond Trail would be fine for most dogs, assuming they can cross the Pine Brook. There is a lot of ice to negotiate going up Tecumseh from Tripoli Road which a dog might find very difficult. |
|
| Bugs: |
A few flies were hanging around in sunny spots on Tecumseh and entertained us with their aerobic exercises during a snack stop. |

| Lost and Found: |

A beautiful, peaceful hike, the first part of which took us from the Kanc, up to East Pond and to Tripoli Road. No traction required on this portion of the hike. The only tracks we saw on Tripoli Road were from a moose and a bicycle. A short walk up the road took us to the start of the Tecumseh Trail which is steep and currently very icy, but it's a lovely hike all the way to the summit with no hazards besides the usual downed trees to negotiate. We used microspikes for the steep parts. The hike down the ski slopes was easy, with running water over icy snow and lots of grass to walk on if you prefer. 11.2 miles, 3850 ft elevation. We didn't see a soul all day. |
