Comments
Comments: Beautiful, warm, windless day with many hikers out on the trails. We made good time up Falling Waters to Little Haystack with microspikes, passing many people without spikes slipping and sliding all the way up (though remarkably most did make it!). Franconia Ridge Trail was free of ice, with only a couple of muddy spots. The spikes were helpful again on and off down the first half of the Old Bridle Path after Greenleaf Hut. The trail dried out at the bottom. In my opinion, light traction is necessary to make for an enjoyable, safe trip given the slick ice.
