Comments
Comments: I bare-booted until I gained roughly 1000ft then put on micro spikes. I kept them on until roughly the same spot. The flow ice is very thick right before the trail junction to the hut. The trail after the hut to the summit is soft. I met two different groups at the hut that were doing to Pemi-loop in different directions and none of them had spikes :0. The weather was perfect at the hut so I sat there for 45 minutes enjoying the views. If you have crampons, I suggest wearing them on the descent from Garfield Ridge trail to the Gale River trail. I ate it pretty hard, sliding 30-40 ft before catching a tree. Thankfully nothing more than a few cuts and bruises. The rest of the trail is manageable.
