| Comments: |
Went from bare boots to rock spikes to trail crampons on the way up, trail crampons to boots coming down. Saw around thirty people on the trail or on the ledges just below the summit of Pierce, most wearing microspikes and some bare booting the entire trail. Watched two folks wearing microspikes do "slip and slides" in different spots along the trail. Neither was injured, but one was over a ten foot, ice covered, sidehill bank that could have had consequences. In my opinion, trail crampons are still the best choice for the icier portions of the Crawford Path for at least a few days. |
