Ice starts just before the last water crossing at about the three mile mark and just under 3,000 feet. Was ok in sharp light traction with some care along the longer and steeper ice flows. Should be a little easier to bite into the ice as the temps rapidly warm up this weekend. Ledges along the Carter-Moriah Trail are dry and clear so no worries there. The little chute below summit I scrambled up but you can bypass it to the left too. Beautiful morning on Moriah as real Spring temps arrived today up here in the north country! It was great to see Schorman and Lady Di, always a pleasure to see them out on the trails! :) |
