What a day to hike the Rockpile! Cold and windy with a lot of snow above treeline, but there were also clear skies with views for miles, which doesn't happen on Washington much. I spiked it on Tucks, then switched to Hillsound Pros/ice ax once on Lion Head. The ax was particularly useful on the descent, where there were some sketchy ice flows on the trail. Kind of cool but weird seeing the summit shut down for winter (no cog, auto road, or summit pizza). Felt peaceful disregarding the 40+ mph wind. I also chatted with a cool group on the top who came up Ammo Ravine. Shared snacks and stories. All in all a really cool day for my 4th full hike up Washington.
