Comments
Comments: Windy day up on the Moose. Started out with about 2 inches of fresh snow. Snow depth increased with elevation to about 6 inches up high. Trails were slick with the new snow covering the older boilerplate ice. Not too much trouble on the way up. Had to be careful coming down as to not slip on the ice. We used Microspikes all day but some may feel more comfortable with the added traction from full crampons. Lots of snow balling under foot on Carriage Road where the sun was hitting the trail. Deep drifts up high on the final approach to the summit. We broke trail all day. Drifts up high were anywhere from a foot deep to about 3 feet deep in spots. By the time we got back to Ravine Lodge Road most of the snow had melted leaving a muddy road walk out. Short stay on the summit due to the wind.
