Comments
Comments: I barebooted up the York Pond Tr and the logging road segment of the Bunnell Notch Tr, dodging muddy areas and pockets of ice. Most of the lower segment of Bunnell Notch Tr is clear of ice. When the trail was in the drainage and next to the river was where there was more ice, and patches of mud. It was a day of putting on and removing my microspikes. Bunnell Notch had ice. The area after Bunnell Notch to the old Cabot Tr (along Kilkenny Ridge Tr) was mostly mud. Roughly an eighth of a mile after the trail junction for the abandoned Cabot Tr (there is a sign) it was ice all the way to the summit. Coming down it was somewhat sketchy since my microspikes did not want to grip the ice coming down. I decided to risk it and not put on the crampons. But I would say, bring them.
