A great day to be above treeline with temps from 25 to 50 and clear blue sky and no wind at all. There was an undercast early but it cleared off well and there was unlimited views to the horizon. Saw about 30 hikers today. There was a crew at Mizpah hut that was moving lumber and materials that was helicoptered from the Highland Center field. It was interesting to watch as the chopper flew in the loads in a net suspended on a cable, but it sure was loud when I was near the hut and the Mizpah Cutoff Trail. The trails were a mix of bare rocks and ice down low to all ice and all snow. Light traction and poles needed. A great day to be out on the trails. |
