Comments
Comments: Plan was for a Zealand/Hale loop but HFKA Dr D offered a ride back from Lincoln Woods and I was very pleased to take his offer as the winds were far less than anticipated. Other than 6 leaving Zealand Hut we only ran across 4 other hikers. Zealand Road bare to Hale Brook TH. Minimal packed snow from there to Zealand Hut. Spikes used from 1/2 way up Zealand Tr. throughout day taking them off for section near Bondcliff and sections down low on Bondcliff Tr. and Lincoln Woods. From Zealand to Bond snow may be deep enough to want snowshoes if temps warm up quickly. No need today. Ice was easily dealt with using light traction. Can't imagine this traverse gets much easier in March. Killer views today and thanks once again to HFKA Dr D for allowing me a swap of Hale for the Bonds. Great way to close out winter.
