Water Crossing Notes: trails crossed small tributaries of the Dry River, no difficulties in crossing. Used the new suspension bridge to cross Dry River however rock crossings looked doable today.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Isolation Trail (West) had many blow downs making the going somewhat slow and obscuring the path in places. Also some evergreen boughs require trimming.

Bugs
Bugs: A few flying insects but not too bad.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Saw 2007 Boston Marathon cap hanging on branch on ascent of Dry River Trail. Didn't notice the cap on descent.

Comments
Comments: Dry River Trail in good condition. Most fallen trees were lying on the ground so were easy to go over. Minimal mud spots. The obscure trail to Dry River Falls appeared to be a muddy track with no signage. I opted to go further up Dry River Trail where the top of the falls could be accessed via a short walk through the woods. The Dry River Falls setting was picturesque and wild. A herd path through the overgrown spruce branches went along the east side of the falls. There were many excellent vantage points to view the falls (be sure not to fall off the ledge!). It didn't look like the falls were visited often although there was a campfire site near the upper fall.
The Isolation Trail (West) had an easily discernible footway. Near the beginning of the trail it follows closely Isolation Brook and at times goes over rocks at the stream bank (mostly dry). There were plenty of fallen or bent trees across the trail in many sections and at times this obscured the pathway. The going wasn't treacherous but the obstructions did slow progress. The trail also needs some trimming in places.
The Davis Path was in good condition including a cleared section of many blow downs. Nice views from Mt Isolation. There were many people at the open summit.
I saw two people on the Dry River Trail both USFS rangers one who was the son of a woman from my work place. I saw nobody on the Isolation Trail. There were many people on the Davis Path including a volunteer trail adopter pruning branches.
Saw turtleheads, spooted touch-me-nots, asters, goldenrod, and many colorful mushrooms.
