Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One problematic water crossing about a quarter of the way up. At 8:30 am most of rocks were covered or partially covered with ice, stream had a solid flow. I sat on a log that had fallen across the brook and worked my way across that way, others I talked to on the trail walked downstream and said it was better for rock hoping. I don't think you could have waded across without feeling very uncomfortable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Minor "duckunders" and step overs on the way up, most are now removed.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Two well behaved, beautiful dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: None - too cold.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Didn't see anything

Comments
Comments: trail was fine, dry trail for first 40 minutes, then patches of snow and ice that were easy to bare boot over. At about 1 hour I put on micro spikes and kept them on the rest of the way. Most people were wearing micro spikes, one person had crampons, a few bare booters. Upper two thirds of trail solid ice covered by snow. Not bad going up or down. Noticeable snow on Franconia Ridge but snowshoes no necessary. No sinking in.

Beautiful 360 degree views from summit of Liberty. Probably passed two dozen people today all of whom appeared to be enjoying the hike and lovely weather on this last day of winter. Youngest hiker was 8 who was doing a solid job of handling the trail. He had brought his Dad along. Definitely a few people 65 and older. If anyone on the trail today wasn't having a good time they did a terrific job hiding that fact.
