Comments
Comments: A real grab-bag of conditions. The Lincoln Woods Trail has significant patches of ice interspersed with bare trail (wet, dry or muddy take your pick!). The railroad bed portion of the Bondcliff trail is in the same condition as Lincoln Woods. Past the railroad section the Bondcliff trail is varied. At lower elevations the trail is mostly snow and ice free with dry/wet/muddy patches. Eventually the trail is almost completely covered by a layer of ice. The ice was mostly covered with a thin layer of fresh snow, which had thinned significantly by our hike out in the afternoon. Above treeline, the rocks were mostly bare with some patches of ice and snow. Once back in the trees below the summit of Bond, there was some unpacked snow, an inch or two deep at most. We wore microspikes once the trail was consistently covered with snow and ice, and never felt the need for anything more.

The summit of Bondcliff was in the clouds when we got there, but things improved quickly, and we had great views by the time we reached the summit of Bond.
